Non-productive periods, such as maintenance or downtime, can be added directly to each machine in the Planning board (SCHEDULING section), in order to reserve time and block availability of a machine. The available types of non-productive periods depend on the selected machine type.

Refer to the main article Planning board for other information.

How to add

To add a non-productive period:

  1. Click on the time grid at the point where the non-productive period should begin.
If you click above or below an existing planning bar, that bar and all subsequent bars will automatically shift to follow the new non-productive period.
  2. In the Add to planning pane that appears, select the appropriate type of non-productive period and specify the start date and desired duration.
When the duration is extended, all following planning bars will automatically move further into the future to accommodate the change.

Non-productive periods are displayed on the Planning board as blueish bars, marked with an appropriate icon indicating the type of non-productive activity. Example: Machine unavailable.

Runs

For some machine types, it is also possible to add runs directly. Depending on the machine type, a configuration may need to be selected when creating the run.

Once a run is created, production orders can be added to it.

When a production order is added, the run is no longer considered a non-productive period but is treated as a standard order bar.

Drag and drop

Non-productive periods can be repositioned on the planning board using drag and drop, just like orders and runs. See How to plan orders.
