A machine type can be used to group and classify machines based on shared characteristics, such as the brand, series, technology, capacity, size, product type. Machine types are used for example to match compatible products and tools (plastics), for declarations.
We have two levels:
- The main machine type is the one that is selected when a new machine is added via Plant view. It defines the available configuration settings and the icon. Example:
Note: In Reports, this is the Kind field in the Filters. - The machine subtype is the one that is defined after selecting the main machine type. Subtypes are only available for the machine types Weaving machine, Tuft, Winder, Plastics. Example:
This article is about the machine subtype.
List
The Machine types module under Equipment (section RESOURCES) shows the defined items for both levels.
Example:
- Main machine type. An expand/collapse arrow is shown if it contains machine subtypes.
- Machine subtype
- No machine subtypes defined. Note the missing expand/collapse arrow.
Creating machine subtypes
You can create machine subtypes while configuring a new machine (see Configuring a machine).
- In the Edit machine dialog, click the Select button. Example:
- Click the Create new button
.
- Enter the fields.
Fields
Example: plastics.
