With the tools described in this article, you can dive deeper into report data. You can:

  • Show a tooltip with more data
  • Expand rows of tables
  • Include only particular data in or exclude data from a visual
  • Export data to explore with another application
  • Highlight related items in other visuals
  • Drill down/up to go deeper in the data

Show a ToolTip

Hovering over anything in visuals displays a ToolTip with additional information.

Expand rows of tables

Tables can have expandable rows that allow you to drill down into more detailed levels of data.

Include/exclude data in/from a visual

The data of each visual can be filtered via the shortcut menu, e.g. to see totals without particular machines. This filter does not affect other visuals.

The options are:

  • Include: The visual will only show this item, e.g. only machine WV08.
  • Exclude: The visual will not show this item. e.g. all machines except WV08. The exclude can be repeated for more items consecutively.

The filter is shown in the Filters pane. To remove the filter, in the Filter pane, click Remove filter.

The filter pane contains a section to apply a filter on all pages simultaneously. Refer to the article Filtering for more information.

Export data

The data of a visual can be exported to e.g. Excel for further analysis.

  1. Click the More options button in the top right corner of the visual and then Export data.
  2. Select an option in the dialog that pops up.
  3. Click Export.

Further information is given in the dialog or in the provided link.

Highlight related items

When you click on an item within a visual, the following happens:

  • The item is highlighted and the other items in the visual are dimmed.
  • Other visuals only show data is related to the selected item.
  • Related items in other visuals on the same page get highlighted.

This is called cross-highlighting.

More actions:

  • Press and hold SHIFT or CONTROL and select other items in the same visual to include their data in the highlight.
  • Click in the white area of the visual to stop the cross-highlighting. Selectin another tab also stops the cross-highlighting.

Drill down/up

Data is organized in a hierarchical structure. Deeper levels show a more detailed view of the data.

Example: hall > machine type > machine.

Following buttons provide intuitive ways to explore data of the different levels in the hierarchy in both table and graphical visuals. The buttons are only available for visuals that can show other levels.

Drill down

Click the Drill down button to activate drill down mode. The button changes to when turned on. Now you can click on data points and explore more detailed levels of information. The other visuals on the same page also drill down.

Example: Clicking a machine in the production report shows the products that are produced with that machine.

Next level

The Next level button  automatically navigates to the next level of data hierarchy for all categories displayed in the visual.

Example: The production report initially shows the machines, and by clicking this button, it shows the products that are produced with these machines. Clicking the Next level button once more shows the orders of these products.

Expand all down one level

The button  expands all categories to the next hierarchical level, displaying more detailed data across all elements without losing the current view.

Example: The production report initially shows the machines. By clicking this button once, all rows expand to show the products that are produced with these machines. By clicking this button once more, it expands to the orders of these products.

Drill up

The Drill up button  moves you up one level in the data hierarchy, showing higher-level aggregated data. Use this button to return to the higher level after using the above buttons.
